What we do at our meetings:

We have three parts to our meetings

a) Prepared speeches: This section involves 3-4 members preparing 5-10 minute long speeches and delivering them to the audience keeping certain objectives in mind. The objectives are based off the manuals which are received as a part of the new member's kit. Members giving prepared speeches are expected to prepare them beforehand. They are a crucial part of becoming a better public speaker.

b) Table Topics (Impromptu Speaking): In other words, this section is all about thinking on your feet. Everyone speaks for 1-2 minutes on a topic that is given to them when they come on stage. You can choose to tackle the topic as you want. The table topics sessions at our club are very lively and make sure that everyone is involved in the meeting. This section is important to develop communication skills, and as members claim, often helps in making excuses for bosses and spouses.

c) Evaluation: Evaluation, which is often understated is given a great deal of importance at our meetings. We reinforce the good qualities and try to become aware of the qualities that need improvement. Prepared speeches are individually evaluated, while the rest of the meeting is evaluated by 4 supplementary evaluators who keep a check on the grammar, pause fillers used during the meeting, time taken on stage by each speaker, and parliamentary behavior. Evaluation is done by members itself, since it helps a great deal in improving listening skills.

Every week, members pick different roles to play. All the roles are taken up voluntarily, and every member goes according to his/her own pace.
